Registration is now open for the Portsmouth Institute’s 2015 Summer Conference,
“Like a Shepherd He Will Tend His Flock: Understanding the Francis Papacy”!
June 19-21, 2015
“This I ask you: Be shepherds, with the ‘odor of the sheep,’ make it real, as shepherds among your flock, fishers of men.” –Pope Francis Chrism Mass, March 28, 2013.
The Portsmouth Institute for Faith and Culture invites you to kick off the summer at our sixth Summer Conference, “Like a Shepherd He Will Tend His Flock: Understanding the Francis Papacy,” on June 19-21, 2015, featuring keynote speaker Cardinal Seán Patrick O’Malley. Following the Benedictine tradition of intellectual dialogue and spiritual formation, the Summer Conference presents the best of contemporary scholarship on faith and culture, and provides opportunities for all attendees to experience the rich, prayerful life of a Benedictine monastery.
Hosted at Portsmouth Abbey, a Benedictine monastery and school nestled along the banks of the Narragansett Bay in scenic Rhode Island, the conference will foster an authentic understanding of Pope Francis and will explore the major themes of his papacy.
Conference speakers include:
— Cardinal Seán Patrick O’Malley, Archdiocese of Boston
— Ross Douthat, New York Times
— R.R. Reno, First Things
— Elizabeth Stoker Bruenig, The New Republic
— Fr. Roger Landry, Diocese of Fall River and Catholic Voices USA

….and many more

— How are we to understand the Holy Father’s teachings on economics and the “throwaway culture”?
